At our organization, we are dedicated to delivering vital medical support to individuals residing in remote rural communities where access to hospitals is limited or non-existent. We specifically focus on assisting two vulnerable groups: those who are severely ill and individuals with disabilities who have exhausted their financial resources and require immediate medical attention.

In August 2019, our team embarked on a one-week Medical Outreach to provide much-needed care to the underserved populations in Ilesha and Ijebu-Jesa areas of Osun State, Nigeria. It was a challenging endeavor as these areas lack access to free medical care and subsidized healthcare.

‍

Our efforts were focused on utilizing the facilities of Ilesha General Hospital and Ijebu-Jesa General Hospital to provide medical treatment and distribute medicines to over 8,000 impoverished individuals. These were people who would otherwise have no means of receiving proper healthcare.

‍

During the outreach, our dedicated medical team carried out 81 Cataract Surgeries and 134 Hernia Surgeries, significantly improving the quality of life for those suffering from these conditions. Additionally, we provided 1,300 Reading Glasses to elderly individuals and women who were unable to afford them.

‍

The impact of these efforts cannot be underestimated. One elderly woman expressed her gratitude, explaining that she had been unable to read her Bible for 15 years until receiving a pair of reading glasses from us.

By providing essential medical care and surgeries, along with much-needed vision aids, we aimed to alleviate the suffering and improve the overall well-being of the underserved population in these areas of Osun State. Our Medical Outreach served as a lifeline for those who were previously forgotten and lacked access to basic healthcare services.

During the Covid-19 pandemic from 2020 to 2022, our organization took proactive measures to educate and assist the residents of rural areas and villages in Nigeria. Recognizing the importance of providing accurate information, we distributed flyers, masks, and produced videos instructing individuals on ways to protect themselves from Covid-19. These educational resources were easily accessible to anyone interested in learning more about safeguarding their health.

In addition to our educational initiatives, we also recognized the economic challenges faced by self-employed individuals and those residing in rural areas and villages. Due to the lack of governmental support during this period, many people were unable to work and earn income. In response, our organization stepped in by providing vital food assistance to those in need. We understood the importance of ensuring that vulnerable populations were not left neglected amidst the pandemic, and thus made it a priority to support them during this difficult time.
